This is certainly possible. However, I’m not sure that I would recommend it. Defect tracking has a lot of different cooks involved in the process – QA testers, UAT testers, developers, etc… A spreadsheet can be a very difficult way to manage the defect lifecycle process. However, if you’re just placing in a reference to a defect and managing the defect somewhere else, that would certainly add some value.
